Assistant Dean's Freshman Advisory Board
- Are you interested in meeting a variety of first-year students just like you?
- Are you excited about making your first-year at the U a great one?
- Do you want your voice and opinions to shape the experience of future first-year students?
If you answered YES to any of these questions,
consider joining the ...
Assistant Dean's Freshman Advisory Board (ADFAB)!
As a member of this board, you, along with other first-year students,
will have the opportunity to get the most out of your first-year at the
University of Minnesota.
The board meets with Chris Kearns, Assistant Dean for CLA Student
Services (CLASS), during monthly meetings. These meetings often include
guest speakers from around campus and will provide you with information
about time management, study abroad, getting involved on campus, career
and major exploration and selection, discovering the variety of
resources the Twin Cities have to offer, managing your finances,
adjusting to a more independent lifestyle, planning for life after your
first year of college, and much more.
Within CLASS, we also
continually aim to improve and adjust our services in order to best
meet the needs of our students. In addition to sharing our tips with
you, we want to hear what you have to say! ADFAB provides a forum for
you to share your experiences and provide the Assistant Dean with
feedback regarding advising, orientation, classes, freshman seminars,
and more.
And while we do discuss many important topics,
we also have a fun! Join us for our social events, including semester
kick-off parties, barbeques, bowling nights, study groups, and more!
Being part of ADFAB is not only a great way for you to stay on track
during your first-year at the University, but also to receive
beneficial information, have a say in the College, and most
importantly, meet other first-year students and get involved within the
CLA.
